DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Beauty and the BeastDisney has long had a formidable record in adapting its animated films for the stage. As well as its touring stable of "Disney On Ice" shows. Since 1991, Beauty and the Beast has been continually packing in the crowds on Broadway and in the West End . Now, once again, the show is touring across the UK , wowing audiences with its highly skilled performances and its energy. This production guarantees a truly memorable evening - the effects are dazzling, the costumes delightful and the actors faultless. Ashley Oliver is perfect in her role as Belle and her voice is simply angelic. The Beast played by Matthew Cammelle is also splendid. Using all his stature he creates an imposing Beast and yet, after his transformation he is fluid and graceful as the Prince. Susan Humphris, as Mrs Potts warms the heart when she sings the title song but the lasting impressions are left by the songs sung by the ensemble - especially the track Be Our Guest where the cast are dressed as various household items such as toast-racks, cutlery or cheese graters. Lastly, applause must go to the choreographers, headed by Alison Pollard (also directing), who have put a tremendous effort into bringing the magic of Beauty and the Beast to the stage.
